Instructions for paper project

There is one paper to be written for HIST 2310 “Early World History .” This prompt serves as instructions on how to successfully complete this project.
What to Do:

One will compose a 6-8 page paper focusing on one area of the world that your textbook, The Human Journey, Vol. I A Concise Introduction to World History, by Kevin Reilly, discussed. The seven areas are: The Middle East; Africa; Europe; China; India; the Americas; and Pacific (Polynesia)

Having picked your area, thoroughly read about the coverage of your area throughout the book; then, use that as your base for discussing your area’s development, and importantly, how it interacted with OTHER areas. YOU MUST ANSWER ALL OF THE PROMPT QUESTIONS BELOW:

1.) Did the area you picked experience variety, diversity of beliefs, and practices? Give examples, explaining why or why not there was diversity. Was there a geographic pattern to these differences – explain. What role did cities play – or not play – in your area?

2.) Did your area “butt heads” with other areas, or rather , was there a mutually beneficial relationship…or even a combination of these two phenomena? Discuss. Am especially interested in how your area connected to other areas.

3.) Discuss in your essay the spread of religion(s) within your area…and even beyond your area. Who carried the religion outwards? priests? trader – businessmen? or who?

4.) Discuss the social and political trends of your area, being sure to tell how power and prestige were structured in your area. For example, what power or prestige did soldiers, priests, scholars, and business people have in your area.

5.) Discuss the language (s) spoken in your area, and how language, written or unwritten, had a major impact upon your area’s development.

Use double spacing, twelve-point font, one-inch margins, and other proper structuring when doing this assignment.

VERY IMPORTANT:

The paper must be written IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Utilize only our The Human Journey textbook; DO NOT copy and paste from websites. Synthesize information from the text and put it in your own words.

The paper is worth 725 points. The due date for the paper is NOVEMBER 15th, 2021. Late papers may or may not be accepted and if they are accepted significant late penalties and loss of points will occur.

Describe how various different ideologies of imperial conquest, expansion, and authority shaped and influenced political developments in sixteenth century Japan.

Prompt: Describe (in 500-700 words) how various different ideologies of imperial conquest, expansion, and authority shaped and influenced political developments in sixteenth century Japan.

Make sure you discuss 1) the competition for “all under heaven” and the “three unifiers” in Japan 2) the Jesuit presence in Japan, and 3) Hideyoshi’s attempted invasion of Korea, and how each of these might relate to each other. As always, look for connections among culture/ideology (including religion), economics/trade, legal reform, and politics. (It will be difficult to attempt this question without hearing both of this week’s lectures).

Feedback:

Enryakuji is the name of a temple, not a sect of Buddhism

Wouldn’t call Hideyoshi “pro-peace”, since he actively sought to expand his territory through military conquest. The statement that he “made several proclamations that would jeopardize Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s goal” is also unclear to me, but you effectively go on to show that these proclamations actually support his goal of maintaining power, authority, and unity.

The discussion of the invasion of Korea would also benefit from a connection to the idea of “all under heaven” from the beginning of your essay (for example, look at his letter to the King of Korea!)

Explain why each source is included in the PowerPoint and what information you include from each source.

History of a specific minority group Vietnamese Americans

Create a power point presentation on the history of a specific minority group about Vietnamese Americans.

Also need to create an annotated bibliography of the sources used for your presentation. Each annotated bibliography should contain at least 10 sources in addition to the textbook, and they should be reputable sources; peer-reviewed journals or books, education websites, etc. It would be best to use Wikis as sources unless they originate from a college or university. In the annotations for each source, explain why each source is included in the PowerPoint and what information you include from each source.

Drop the files of an annotated bibliography of the 10 sources.

You should create at least 30 slides for the final power point
