Propose one addition to the APA code of ethics that you feel would help address a potential ethical dilemma that is evolving as technology advances.

The Tarasoff vs. Regents of the University of California case brought about changes to the APA ethics code in the addition of a duty to protect clause. The fear in adding a duty to protect clause stemmed from the thought that rapport between client and therapist would be reduced, or that the mentally ill would not seek treatment, if they knew that everything revealed in a session was not guaranteed confidentiality. In hindsight this provision might seem necessary and self-evident, as the Tarasoff case suggests.

As abnormal psychology’s understanding of mental illness and its underlying mechanisms improves, combined with improved treatment interventions and technology we may very well have other perhaps necessary and obvious additions to be made to the APA code of ethics. In your video response for this week, propose one addition to the APA code of ethics that you feel would help address a potential ethical dilemma that is evolving as technology advances.  be sure to provide a discussion of why this addition is relevant, and information from this week’s resources that would support this addition.

as well as some kind of supportive media .

Would you focus on identifying what goes right in people or on identifying the abnormal? How would approaches to treatment and intervention differ if society were to focus on positive psychology instead of abnormal psychology?

After viewing the video on positive psychology, weigh in on the following: Should abnormal psychology continue its focus on identifying the causes of psychological distress, classifying different symptoms and seeking effective treatment to reduce these symptoms, or should the field focus on improving knowledge of what goes right in happy people and trying to improve these techniques in the general population? If you were to start a society from scratch and wanted to improve the lives of its members, would you focus on identifying what goes right in people or on identifying the abnormal? How would approaches to treatment and intervention differ if society were to focus on positive psychology instead of abnormal psychology?

Occupational Psychology

Improving the health and wellbeing of our staff is an essential component in making the NHS the best place to work, which was a commitment of the NHS Long Term Plan.
Using this excerpt as a guide, conduct a literature review about employee wellbeing in the National Health Service in the UK. Based on your findings, make theory-driven and evidence-based recommendations for the following:
Outline the recommendations you would make for the NHS to improve employee wellbeing, as an Occupational Psychologist:
• What psychometric tests would you use to gather more data? Why would you use this test(s), and why would the extra data you would gather be useful?
• Based on the findings of your literature review, what intervention(s) would you recommend to improve employee wellbeing within the NHS? Why? Provide evidence for your recommendations.
• How would you suggest these interventions are implemented, i.e. how would they be rolled out in practice?
• Are there any training needs you have identified based on your literature review? If so, what are they and how have you identified these?
