Using appropriate statutes, recent case law and relevant public policy research, outline and critically evaluate the debate around Employment Status. What would improve the current situation, why would it do so and what are the implications for HR? (1500 words total excluding references)
Note that the paper should not cover any case developments (e.g. Uber) after March 9th, 2021. The essay should be written to cover cases and events after that date, for example, Uber v Aslam (Dec 2018) should be thoroughly discussed.
Despite having recent 2021 developments when Uber agreed to classify its UK drivers as workers, this should not yet be reflected in the essay, but only discussed as a possibility.
